Roles & permissions
Discover built-in user roles and permissions or create a custom role in NLX
Permission operations
Access to resources in workspaces is defined by these operations:
None: Cannot view a resource
View: Can view a resource
Edit: Can create, update, delete, or duplicate a resource
Pre-defined roles
Each workspace may require a variety of roles and responsibilities for your team. That's why our pre-defined roles allow for easy assignment within each NLX workspace.
Account administrator
Account admins are the owners of an NLX account and bear the highest permission level. Account administrators are able to:
Access the account's Admin Hub
Access all workspaces and create new ones
Invite and manage users to the account or its workspace(s)
Create custom roles (this feature is currently available to enterprise tiers only)
Perform all permission operations for any workspace
Administrator
Administrators can do everything within the NLX workspaces they are assigned. However, they are not able to invite or manage users of a workspace (Account admin required). Administrators have access to:
Full permission operations on all resources within an assigned workspace
Developer
Developers are able to create and modify technical resources. Developers have access to:
Edit operations on Integrations, custom API integrations, Knowledge bases, Context variables, Modalities, and Secrets
View operations on all other resources in a workspace
Content manager
Content managers are able to create and modify non-technical resources. Content managers have access to:
Edit operations on Flows, Slots, Voice+ Scripts, Knowledge bases, and Translations
View operations on all other resources in a workspace
Analyst
Analysts have access to resources in a workspace that evaluate application performance without disturbing resources in production. Analysts have access to:
Edit operations on Analytics, Training, and Conversation history
All other resources in the workspace are inaccessible
Read-only
Read-only roles have visibility into all resources of a workspace to observe or monitor content but cannot edit anything within the workspace.
Custom roles
This feature is currently available to enterprise tiers only.
Only Account administrators are able to create and assign custom roles in an NLX account:
Click New role
Enter name of custom role > Click Create
Expand each resource section under Permissions to specify None, View, or Edit operations of your custom role
Conditional toggles are visible when expanding resources that can further refine your custom role
Click Save
Test roles
Select an existing role in the table or create a new one
Choose from the available workspaces in your account to try out the role > Click Test
To exit test mode, select your username from the workspace menu, and navigate back to NLX Admin Hub.
